Five-Step Lawn Fertilization Program

The most important component of any lawn care regime is fertilization. Fertilizer offers added nutrients and minerals to your grass, ensuring its durability and strength last all year round. Starting in the spring, our five-step lawn fertilization program provides the nourishment your grass needs to stay healthy and pre and post-treatment to help prevent and control the spread of weeds.

Our lawn fertilization program includes:

  • Preemergent crabgrass and broadleaf weed control
  • Slow-release fertilizer to stimulate growth
  • And spot weed control

Our five-step lawn fertilization program will ensure your turf remains healthy and thick year-round. For an additional fee, we can include a fall limestone treatment that will help raise the pH levels of your soil.

GRUB Control

Unfortunately, no matter how well you care for your lawn, there will always be a variety of diseases, conditions, and pests ready to destroy your hard work. One of the biggest lawn threats comes from a surface insect called a grub. Don’t let the size of this lawn pest fool you. These small c-shaped beetles bury deep beneath your soil’s surface and can cause massive lawn damage. After seeking out a cozy spot deep within, grubs lay their eggs. Once hatched, the larvae feast on everything in sight, including your lawn’s roots. Too big of an infestation, and your roots will wither and die.

Symptoms of grub damage can often mimic other lawn conditions but typically include:

  • Brown patches
  • Wilting grass
  • Soft spongy grass when you walk on it
  • Damage caused by or sightings of moles, raccoons, or skunks

While a healthy, well-cared-for lawn is better able to withstand a grub infestation, a grub preventive is highly recommended. The damage caused by grubs can be quite costly. At Great Lawns Plus, we utilize a mix of two insect controls, one for surface insects such as chinch bugs and one for grubs. Also included in our grub control preventive treatment is calcium to help raise the pH levels.

Mosquito and Tick control

Don’t forget to protect your summer from ticks, mosquitoes, and other pests with Great Lawns Plus’ comprehensive mosquito and tick control yard treatment starting in April. Our treatment protects your outdoor experience with seven applications through November.
