Lawn Care

The lawn care fertilization program that we have designed at Great Lawns Plus was created to fertilize your turf by utilizing materials that create a bright, full, green lawn. Our program fertilizes and fights off crabgrass with two crabgrass pre-emergent treatments and leaves room for spot weed control, grub control, and even surface insect control.

Our 5-Step Program

Spring Treatment One: This application includes the first round of crabgrass pre-emergent and also targets broadleaf weeds. Generally, this treatment will be a spot-spray treatment, but some lawns occasionally call for the entire surface to be treated.

Spring Treatment Two: We will come in with a round of slow-release fertilizer to stimulate growth as the weather gets hotter. At this time, we will spot spray for weeds and do a thorough check for lawn diseases and insects. This is when we will also apply a second round of crabgrass pre-emergent which will protect your turf for the duration of the summer.

Summer Treatment One: When the weather starts to warm up, we will apply a slow-release fertilizer to ensure that it receives proper nutrition to fight against drought stress and other heat-related issues. Additionally, weed control will be applied if there is a need for it.

Optional: This is the time we would apply Grub Preventative to protect your lawn against these damaging lawn insects

Summer Treatment Two: This application includes nutrients for recovery from the stress of the hot weather. If further weed control is required for your lawn, it will be applied at this time.

Fall Treatment: After the hottest months of the year, your yard will need a fertilizer blend that helps bring back the color and prepare it for winter. We will also assess your yard as a whole and recommend any necessary additional fall services that will benefit it.

Optional: Fall Limestone treatment. We use a mixture of Calcium Carbonate and Humic Acid. This treatment will help raise your pH, enhance nutrient availability, increase water holding capacity in the soil and increase microbial activity.

Grub Preventative

Optional Grub Preventative is highly recommended. Look at it as an insurance policy for your lawn. Grub damage can be very costly to repair. We apply a mix of two separate insect controls, one for surface insects such as Chinch Bugs and one for sub-surface insects for Grubs. Also mixed in is calcium to help raise the pH levels and unlock some of the unused nutrients in the soil.
